Deutsch Apple Bakery - Take & Bake frozen pie cooking instructions
Please keep in mind, all ovens cook differently. Times noted are approximate.
Baking Instructions for frozen traditional crust topped pies
- Pre-heat oven to 400 F
- Do not allow pie to thaw prior to cooking,
- Remove wrapping and cardboard from frozen pie and place on a parchment/foil lined cookie sheet to catch any juice run over during cooking.
- With a sharp knife, cut a few vents in top of pie for steam to release
- Cook at 400 degrees for 30 minutes then reduce heat to 375 degrees
- After 30 mins, remove pie from oven and lightly egg wash top of pie & sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar (Egg Wash = beat an egg, white & yolk)
- Return pie to oven and cook for ~60 more minutes at 375 degrees
- Pie is done when knife goes through fruit in center without resistance & dough is golden brown and firm, not soft.
- If crust starts to brown before fruit is fully cooked, reduce heat 25 degrees, or cover with foil.
