Deutsch Apple Bakery - Take & Bake frozen pie cooking instructions

Please keep in mind, all ovens cook differently.  Times noted are approximate.

Baking Instructions for frozen traditional crust topped pies

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 F
  2. Do not allow pie to thaw prior to cooking,  
  3. Remove wrapping and cardboard from frozen pie and place on a parchment/foil lined cookie sheet to catch any juice run over during cooking.
  4. With a sharp knife, cut a few vents in top of pie for steam to release
  5. Cook at 400 degrees for 30 minutes then reduce heat to 375 degrees
  6. After 30 mins, remove pie from oven and lightly egg wash top of pie & sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar (Egg Wash = beat an egg, white & yolk) 
  7. Return pie to oven and cook for ~60 more minutes at 375 degrees
  8. Pie is done when knife goes through fruit in center without resistance & dough is golden brown and firm, not soft.
  9. If crust starts to brown before fruit is fully cooked, reduce heat 25 degrees, or cover with foil.

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 F
